Connected Systems was engaged to design a new Enterprise Portal solution based on the Microsoft platform and migrate their existing SharePoint 2003 sites to MOSS 2007.   As a longer term objective, CBH would use to new portal platform to consolidate their Lotus Notes Web Server Intranet into the new "Crop To Shop" Portal (based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007).

One of the mind shifts that was proposed is to a Workspace-based solution, where information relating to business areas, project areas and-the-like reside.   This takes data out of technology stove-pipes (file shares and EDRMS) and put it with the business areas, making it more relevant and easier to collaborate on.   This design completed by Connected Systems considered:

1. An immediate requirement to migrate the existing Crop to Shop portal to a Sharepoint 2007 platform that is better manageable.
2. A solution that will scale to meet the information management needs for CBH and all potential users (internal and external).
3. (Future) A potential migration of document management to a workspace-based paradigm with co-existence options yet to be determined.

Connected Systems were engaged to design and implement:

1. A 3-tiered architecture, consisting of Developement -> Test -> Production environments.
2. Content migration of SharePoint 2003 Content database to Office SharePoint Server 2007 platform.
